Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service advise anyone who can see or smell smoke to take action
A massive fire has broken out at an industrial building in Blackburn, with fire crews working tirelessly to control the blaze. The emergency services were alerted to the incident near Grimshaw Park just after 6.30pm on Tuesday (March 25), and battled through the night to bring the flames under control.
Four crews from Blackburn, Chorley, Darwen and Hyndburn have been dispatched to the former V10 Polymers site, according to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
Lancashire Police have implemented road closures on Mosley Street, Crossfield Street and Grimshaw Park at the traffic lights at Russell Street. They have warned that these roads will remain closed ‘for some time’ and are urging people to steer clear of the area and seek alternative routes.
Firefighters have issued a warning due to the ‘quantity of thick smoke’ billowing from the site.
They advise anyone who can see or smell the smoke to keep their windows and doors shut while they work to extinguish the fire.
