Paul Pogba is continuing to stay fit ahead of return to competitive football – though he is yet to make a decision on his future.

The 32-year-old has been without a club since mutually leaving Juventus last November following a doping ban. He was initially banned for four years but a successful appeal by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) meant the ban was reduced to 18 months.

Pogba has been linked with a return to Manchester United but the club are likely to target a different profile. Ineos have adopted a long-term approach to transfers with Matthijs de Ligt being the oldest acquisition at just 25.

Here, MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest surrounding Pogba.

Return plan clear

During the international break this week, the French international posted a video on Instagram, demonstrating his dedication and hinting at the imminent return to the pitch.

“So we’re here in Miami, training, try to get fit as soon as possible, you already know the story,” Pogba said in the recent Instagram footage. “I’m here, and there are some fans around, United fans and Barcelona fans. It’s big up to all of them. This gentleman [the Barcelona fan] tried to challenge me.”

New transfer hint

On his birthday last week, Pogba was spotted in attendance at Los Angeles FC’s (LAFC) MLS match against Austin, with the home team falling to a 1-0 loss. LAFC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account shared videos showing Pogba in attendance.

First, he met former France teammate Oliver Giroud. A second video shared after the match showed him greeting another former international teammate Hugo Lloris, before having a chat with both him and Giroud.

This has led to speculation over a possible move to the United States. LAFC, LA Galaxy and Inter Miami have all previously been linked with the former United man.

Pogba makes allegiance clear

The midfielder has pledged his allegiance to France during the international break. The former United star wished Les Bleu good luck ahead of their clash against Croatia in the second leg of the Nations League quarterfinal.

Pogba uploaded a carousel of pictures of himself in a France shirt to his Instagram, with the caption: “Always behind you, brothers! Make that jersey shine like you know how. Go Blues! @equipedefrance.”

‘No decision yet’

Earlier this month, France boss Didier Deschamps revealed the midfielder is yet to make a decision on his future.

“He’s supposed to be able to play again, but he doesn’t have a club. We’re talking, and I won’t tell you the details,” he said.

“Yes, he has the ability and the mentality to return to the highest level. It won’t happen overnight, but for the moment, he hasn’t made a decision. We’ll see.”

Midfielder warned about potential Man United return

Chris Waddle has suggested that Paul Pogba would be better off returning to Italy or playing in France rather than returning to Old Trafford. “Weather conditions sometimes dictate the pace abroad. The sun, the heat,” Waddle said.

“I think he was more suited to that type of game rather than the hustle and bustle of England. For me, France, Marseille would be a good move, and obviously, the Italian league would be a good move for him.

“I think he’s best suited to one of those two leagues.”
