Defense and health will deal with legislative files, while the two special committees are tasked with drawing up a report and recommendations on how to fix housing shortages and protect democracies from malign interference. Both special committees will run for a period of 12 months.
The European People’s Party will chair the health committee and provide the lead negotiators for the housing and democracy committees, tasked with penning the reports. The Socialists and Democrats will chair housing, and Renew Europe defense and democracy.
While the four committees still need to be voted on by MEPs in Parliament’s plenary session starting Dec. 16, they are expected to get the required majority.
