Pakistan’s under-12 tennis team made a triumphant start in the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Under-12 Team Competition Final 2024, securing a thrilling 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia in their opening match in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

The squad, placed in Group D alongside Saudi Arabia and Thailand in ATF U12 competition, showcased remarkable resilience and skill to clinch their first win of the tournament.

The ATF U12 competition began with Rashid Ali delivering an impressive performance in the first singles match, where he defeated Saudi Arabia’s Elyas Al Ghafi. Rashid dominated the first set with a 6-0 win, but Al Ghafi fought back to take the second set 6-4.

However, Rashid regained his composure and sealed the match with a decisive 6-1 victory in the third set, giving Pakistan an early lead. In the second singles match, Muhammad Shayan Afridi faced a tough challenge against Hamza El Mansoury.

Afridi started strong, winning the first set 6-4, but El Mansoury rallied to win the next two sets 6-3, 6-2, leveling the tie at 1-1. The decisive doubles match saw Rashid Ali and Muhammad Shayan Afridi team up to face the Saudi duo of Anas Al Zahrani and Hamza El Mansoury.

The Pakistani pair displayed excellent teamwork and determination, winning the match 6-2, 6-4, and securing Pakistan’s victory.

With this win, Pakistan is set to face Thailand in their next group match, aiming to continue their winning momentum in the prestigious tournament.
