PA Consulting helps launch high-speed data diode

PA Consulting’s Oakdoor has launched a new enterprise diode, for businesses looking to secure their flow of information without compromising on speed. The diode operates at a speed of 10 gigabits per second.

Tim Lunn, head of Oakdoor, part of PA Consulting, commented, “We are delighted to launch our Enterprise Diode. Our customers across the defence and intelligence communities can now benefit from enhanced speed and security in data transfers, backed by the reliability and trustworthiness for which Oakdoor is renowned.”

Data diodes are hardware-based devices with two nodes or circuits – one send only and one receive only – which allow data to move from a source to a destination. Chief among the benefits of data diodes is the ability of the technology to secure the transfer of files. They effectively eliminate the risk of data leakage or unauthorised access, as they essentially serve as one-way valves for data, allowing data to flow out, without a way back in.

Data diodes also form a critical part of cross-domain solutions by providing innovative, high speed hardware security components. Cross-domain solutions can help to streamline workflows and increase productivity, by reducing the need for manual data transfer between different systems – and enable automated data transfer between domains, ensuring that the relevant information is accessible to the appropriate individuals at the right time.

The Oakdoor diode breaks new ground in a number of ways. The diode’s security is built directly into its physical hardware components, meaning data can only flow in one direction. This physical security barrier is far more reliable than software-only solutions, protecting organisations against cyber-attacks and malicious actors that may seek to steal sensitive data, interfere with critical services and infrastructure, or subvert supply chains.

At the same time, it is the first 10G protocol filtering data diode. According to a release from the firm, this can help ensure that even large volumes of information can be securely imported without risk of breach or unauthorised access, “playing a crucial role in cross-domain solutions.”

Lunn added, “Our Enterprise Diode is packed with enterprise-grade features allowing for configuration, audit, and update of the device remotely, all while meeting the highest security standards.”
