The owners of a popular Swansea store say they have taken the “difficult decision” to close permanently. Uplands Emporium, based along Uplands Crescent, sold a range of homeware, hardware, DIY items, plants, cleaning products, gifts, and key cutting, and had gained many loyal customers and a good reputation locally.
But its managing director, Anderson Ferreira has decided to take the decision to close its doors for good. He expressed his gratitude for “the community which grew around” the small business, thanking those who shopped there for their “loyal support”.
The business had launched a closing down sale in its final days, offering customers half price discounts. Never miss a Swansea story by signing up to our newsletter here.
Back in June, it had advertised the business for sale, as a “fantastic opportunity for an entrepreneur or investor.”
Mr Ferreira wrote in a statement: “Dear customers, after much thought and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our shop permanently.
“We want to extend our deepest thanks to each and every one of you for your incredible support over the year.
“Your loyalty, kindness, and encouragement have meant the world to us, and it has truly been a pleasure serving you.
“As we close this chapter, we carry with us many fond memories and are grateful for the community that grew around our little shop.
“Thank you once again! we wish you all the very best.
“With heartfelt appreciation, Uplands Emporium, Anderson Ferreira, managing director.”
In November last year, we reported how another Uplands Crescent business, Bangkok, also closed down.
Its owners said at the time that the decision was made to focus more on family.
