Available exclusively through MoneySuperMarket, the British Gas Fixed Tariff v63 is priced at £1,584 a year. It is £265 below Ofgem’s current price cap and £99 cheaper than Cornwall Insight’s July price cap forecast.
Kara Gammell, personal finance expert at MoneySuperMarket, said: “This British Gas fixed deal is currently the cheapest of all major energy suppliers in the UK, and could save customers over £260 a year on their energy bills.

“Switching to a fixed tariff like this one can make budgeting your monthly and annual bills easier, as well as offering protection from any future price cap rises.”
Money Saving Expert, the site from BBC and ITV star Martin Lewis, rates Outfox the Market Fix’d Dual May25 12M v3.0 as one of the best tariffs out there right now. It is for new and existing customers, dual-fuel only, and smart meters are not required.
You must pay by Direct Debit. Outfox also has an 18 month dual-fuel fix and a 2 year dual-fuel fix similarly priced, but with higher exit fees.
Other good tariffs are E.on Next Next Fixed 12m v50, for new and existing customers, and dual-fuel only or electricity-only.
There is £20 MSE cashback via Cheap Energy Club for new customers, too. EDF Energy Simply Fixed Direct Aug26 is a 16 month fix at 14 per cent less than the Ofgem price cap, while Fuse comes in at 20.4 less at a 18-month fix.
EDF says smart meters are not required (unless on smart prepay) and there are no exit fees Fuse warns there is a £50 exit fee and you must pay by Variable Direct Debit.
