Ottawa police say a 32-year-old suspect was arrested and a long list of illegal drugs and weapons were seized in raids at two residences in Ottawa South last week.
In a release on Wednesday, police said the raids and arrest followed a month-long investigation by the Ottawa Police Service guns and gangs unit.
“Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation,” police did not release the name or gender of the arrested person, identifying them only as a “32-year-old Ottawa resident.”

Police said they seized more than seven kilograms of drugs in the raids, including cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and oxycodone. Also seized were “precursor chemicals” used in the production of illegal drugs.
Police also seized a 40-calibre handgun with extended magazines, a “large” quantity of ammunition, a bulletproof vest, cellphones and a “large amount” of Canadian currency.
The suspect was charged with a long list of offences, police added, with more charges possible as the investigation continues.
Police said the operation “was conducted without incident with the support of the South and East Neighbourhood Response Teams and the Tactical Unit.”
Anyone with information about the possession, manufacturing or trafficking of illegal firearms or illicit drugs is asked to contact the guns and gangs unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or crimestoppers.ca.
