Sophie Skelton has shared some hilarious behind-the-scenes insight about a crucial Outlander moment

Outlander: Season 7 finale preview
Outlander’s seventh season has come to an end, leaving countless fans on the edge of their seats for the eighth and final chapter coming soon.
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have officially wrapped up their last scenes for the hit Starz drama as the show’s beloved central pairing, Jamie and Claire Fraser.
Viewers were also thrilled to see Brianna (played by Sophie Skelton) and Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) finally reunited after spending an entire season in different timelines.
In a humorous clip from behind the scenes, Skelton admitted she may have got a little too excited when it came to shooting their long-awaited reunion.
“It’s a wrap on season seven and we are back together. Reunion!” she began, with Rankin confirming, “On the last day, we’re back together.”
Skelton went on to explain how after eight years working together they were separated for practically the entire season.
This isn’t the first time this has happened, and she admits the Roger and Bree reunions have now become infamous.
“There’s always running,” the actress said. “Which always seems to be me, actually now I think about it, running to Roger.”
Rankin added: “It feels like they have a bit of experience in it now. It’s an experienced coming together.”
His co-star recalled the last time the pair were separated for such a long period back in season five, which culminated in a touching meeting at Aunt Jocasta’s (Maria Doyle Kennedy) home.
However, Skelton wasn’t quite as accustomed to their epic reunions as she is now as the crucial scene caused some unexpected chaos.
“Obviously, me being involved, it turns into knocking the wind out of him,” she admitted.
The Outlander star also revealed her period-accurate costumes weren’t doing her any favours that day.
“And also, I was running, trying to run in the big skirt, with shoes on that were blistering my feet to smithereens,” she said.
“Running there and, obviously, back to start the take again.”
Rankin chimed in: “I remember just watching you that day from, like, half a mile away and just watching you run.
“It’s like, she’s running. She’s still running. She’s still running…”
Despite those exhausting days on set, Skelton and Rankin were thrilled to be back for season seven and will wrap up Bree and Roger’s adventures in the upcoming season eight.
Outlander is streaming on MGM+ via Prime Video now.
