With over three million views, the now-viral image is quickly winning hearts across social media. The photo prompted several cinema aficionados to hail the animated movie.
“Someone get him a tiny tuxedo for the afterparty,” a user wrote. “First animated cat to win an Oscar. History has been made,” another user commented. “That’s so adorable. they could drop an animation of flow playing his #Oscar,” a third user chimed in.
Zilbalodis, along with writers Matiss Kaza and Ron Dyens and producer Gregory Zalcman, took the stage to accept the prestigious award presented by Andrew Garfield and Goldie Hawn.
Flow traces the events that unfold after a biblical flood that has submerged everything, including the cat’s house. Fortunately, the feline protagonist finds solace aboard a boat filled with other seemingly homeless animals. Together, they embark on a journey across the floodwaters.
Represented by animation experts at Paris-based Charades, the film had a remarkable festival journey, beginning with its world premiere at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section. It won awards at prestigious festivals in Melbourne, Annecy, Ottawa, and Guadalajara.
Before the Oscars, Flow earned accolades at the Golden Globes. European Film Awards, Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, and New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
