One person was pronounced dead at the scene and five other people were injured, including a female taken to a hospital in critical condition. The four others had minor injuries, Const. Moulika Sharma said in an email to The Toronto Sun.

Roadways in the area didn’t fully reopen until Sunday afternoon.

Sharma said two vehicles — an Audi heading eastbound and a Toyota Sienna minivan heading westbound — were travelling on Steeles before they were involved in a “violent collision” as the driver of the Sienna turned left onto Finch.

A male passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Four people in the Audi had minor injuries, Sharma said.
