Object Design-Explorative Apartments : Apartamento Secreto

Apartamento Secreto presents a curated exhibition of over 30 global designers whose works challenge the boundaries of objecthood and narrative. Showcased in a historic Lisbon apartment, the exhibition—part of Lisbon Design Week—aims to highlight how everyday objects can transcend utility and serve as cultural, emotional, or conceptual vessels. From reinterpreted ceramics to experimental textiles, each piece reflects deeply personal or sociopolitical ideas, offering viewers an intimate look into the artists’ intentions and material philosophies.

Curated by Caterina Licitra and Tiago Andrade Paes, the exhibition juxtaposes craft and concept in a domestic setting, reinforcing the show’s core theme: that meaning and memory often live within the mundane. By removing objects from a sterile gallery context and placing them in lived-in spaces, Apartamento Secreto transforms viewing into storytelling. It’s less about product design and more about emotional resonance—inviting audiences to reflect on how the objects around us quietly shape identity.
