New Delhi: The year 2024 has witnessed significant global tensions, with the situation in the Middle East declining further. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah gradually spread to Palestine and Iran. Syria had a regime change by the end of 2024. Asia also experienced considerable shifts last year. Given the changing dynamics and rising tensions on the continent, it seems 2025 will be a year full of turmoil.

Tension Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

The tensions between India’s two neighboring countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan, continue to escalate. Both of these nations are reportedly on the brink of war, with multiple incidents of cross-border firing resulting in the deaths of several soldiers. It all began when Shehbaz Sharif-led Pakistan recently carried out airstrikes on Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) bases in Afghanistan, prompting retaliatory attacks by the Afghan Taliban on Pakistan.

The role of India will be very pivotal here. India has always supported peace and stability in the region. India has invested in development projects in Afghanistan and taken several steps to assist its people. In recent years, Afghanistan has also strengthened its ties with India. However, the relation of India with Pakistan has not been that smooth.

The Rise of Extremist Forces in Bangladesh

The situation in Bangladesh has become critical. After last year’s nationwide student protests, Sheikh Hasina’s government collapsed in Bangladesh leading her to flee the country. An interim government was formed in Bangladesh under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus. Following this, violence against the Hindu minority in Bangladesh escalated significantly. Several temples were targeted by extremists, prompting objections from India.
