North Melbourne have stormed to their first AFLW premiership with a dominant 30-point win over Brisbane in Saturday night’s grand final.
The Kangaroos exploded out of the blocks with the first three goals in the first quarter and defended brilliantly to keep the Lions to just one goal in the 6.3 (39) to 1.3 (9) victory.
The Roos controlled the match from start to finish, dominating the Lions in all key areas of the game.

The win completed a remarkable undefeated season for the premiers, the first time that has been achieved in women’s or men’s history.
Dynamic duo Jasmine Garner and Ash Riddell combined for a staggering 65 touches, while captain Emma Kearney and Sarah Wright were also fantastic for the Roos.
Alice O’Loughlin kicked three goals, two of which came in the devastating first term, while Vikki Wall chimed in with two.
Libby Birch also created a slice of history, becoming the first female or male to win three premierships for three different teams after previous success with Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.
“This is awesome. I can’t believe it,” Garner told Channel 7 after the game.
Skipper Kearney, who missed half the season with a hamstring injury, was proud of her teammates.
“Super proud. Been a challenging year for me. I didn’t know if I was going to get back, had a few little other tears of muscles when I was in rehab,” she said.
“I was a bit touch and go at points in the season. Just so happy to be playing and playing with this group with each other. We love each other so much.”
It was disappointment for the Lions, who were aiming to go back-to-back and join Adelaide on three premierships.
Belle Dawes, Ally Anderson and Orla O’Dwyer battled hard all night, but they had a host of stars who were well below their best, including Dakota Davidson, who failed to register a touch in the first half.
Ellie Hampson kicked the Lions’ only goal, which game in the first quarter.
