A woman was brutally attacked on a busy railway platform in Calgary, Canada. The disturbing footage of the assault has spread widely on social media and shows people at the scene being mere spectators. According to Calgary’s City News Everywhere, the attacker was nabbed within 30 minutes with the help of witnesses.

The incident occurred on March 23 at City Hall/Bow Valley College Station. The Calgary police shared the development of the incident on X, informing the victim has been offered support. The attacker has been identified as Braydon Joseph James French.

The viral video shows French grabbing the victim, who was crying out for help, by her jacket. He then grabs her water bottle and throws water on her face, pushes her against the transit shelter walls. He can also be seen demanding her phone. As the video progresses, the attacker can be seen fleeing the scene without taking away her phone.

The video sparked outrage after no bystander stepped forward to help the victim. “No one helped her. She was crying. All those men and they stood there. None of the women comforted her. This is so sad,” an X user said. “All the so called men standing round and watching,” another user wrote.

“8 men couldn’t step up and take down one man sickening and sad,” a third user said.
