Ravens 19-21 Bills, 1:42 3rd quarter

Jackson in the shotgun and for some reason, passes. Why?

Why are they passing when their running game just destroyed the Buffalo defense? Why do coaches make this so hard?

The two-point conversion fails, and the Bills are still on top.

Now the home team needs to re-establish its offense and give their defense some rest!

Martin kicks it 52 yards into the endzone. Baltimore will begin at the 20.

Baltimore defense doing exactly what they need to do, causing some discomfort, making some plays and getting off the field. It’s all there for Baltimore if they can convert this opportunity.

Ravens 13-21 Bills, 6:28 3rd quarter

On 2nd & 10, Allen hits Shakir over the middle for a five yard gain. So it’s another 3rd & 5. Can the Ravens defense get off the field?

Ravens 13-21 Bills, 8:36 3rd quarter

Kickoff, touchback. Bills begin at the 30. Allen, play action and a dump to Cook, who is ahead for three yards. Then Allen finds Shakir on the near sideline, and there’s little room – a gain of just two.

So it’s a big 3rd & 5 coming up.

The drive

Nine plays, 40 yards in 4:01. They did actually run Henry once and it went well. Something to build on.

FIELD GOAL! Ravens 13-21 Bills, 9:47 3rd quarter

Tucker’s kick is true, so it’s now an eight point lead for the Bills. OK, good start for Baltimore, stopping Buffalo on their first drive and getting the scoreline to one possession. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh will take that.

Ravens 10-21 Bills, 9:53 3rd quarter

Jackson in the shotgun. He throws quickly to Bateman, short, and the wideout gerts hit hard by Milano. Ouch!

Here comes the field goal unit. Tucker from 47!

Finally, Henry, manhandles the Buffalo defense and has a 12 yard gain down to the 24! See! Was that so hard?

Now it’s Hill, but he’s wrapped up for a loss of two by the Bills defense.

Second and 12 – the Bills Blitz, and Jackson fires incomplete.

Key third and long now!

First pass from Jackson, incomplete to Agholor. Why? Why not Henry?

Now a five yard pass to Andrews. It’s 3rd & 5. Why are they passing so much?

Share

Ravens 10-21 Bills, 13:48 3rd quarter

Allen drops back to pass, he finds Kincaid who slides on the turf and drops a ball he initially had a beat on. Big 3rd & 9 here.

Allen is chased and he throws it away with Wiggins chasing. The bills punt and Sims has a 17-yard return to the Ravens 36.

Just what Baltimore needed to do coming out of the break. Can they capitalize?

Ravens 10-21 Bills, 14:19 3rd quarter

Davis returns the kickoff to the 25. Then Cook runs for a yard.

Already the clock is moving.

Stats

You want them, we have them.

Allen, 5/7 69 yards, two rushing touchdowns

Jackson, 6/10 123 yards, 31 yards rushing, a pick and a touchdown throw

Henry, eight carries for 21 yards. Not enough!

Cook, 10 carries for 35 yards

Davis, three for 26

Bateman has 48 yards and a TD

Shakir has 51 yards.

Two turnovers for Baltimore, and that smarts. Can’t do that!

Here comes the second half!

Pass Interference

It was 3rd & 5 at the Ravens 30 when this pass interference call was made. I personally think it was the Bills’ Coleman who pushed off. Everyone seemed to think the call was fine, but not me!

Share

Ravens 10-21 Bills, end of 2nd quarter

Mitchell takes the kickoff to the Ravens 33. Jackson takes a knee, and that will do it for the first half in Buffalo. Advantage Bills!

My initial thought? Not nearly enough from Henry. They should be pounding him into the Bills defense over and over and over until they’re exhausted. And when you have a first and goal at the two, you gotta get it into the endzone.

Also, the Bills offense look extremely comfortable. Allen looks like he’s on vacation. Baltimore’s defense needs to make some plays. Soon.

TOUCHDOWN! Ravens 10-21 Bills, 0:16 2nd quarter

Allen powers ahead for the touchdown! It’s his second TD run of the game!

That pass interference call, I don’t like it. If I’m a Ravens fan I am throwing my crab cakes at the TV.

Ravens 10-14 Bills, 1:01 2nd quarter

Allen in the shotgun, he throws down the sideline looking for Coleman and it’s overthrown but there’s a flag! It’s on Allen for pass interference but to me it looks like Coleman pushed off. That’s gross, but it’s in the books, an 18-yard gain for Buffalo! Ball at the Ravens 12.

Share

Ravens 10-14 Bills, 1:13 2nd quarter

Cook is mostly stuffed on a run, gets a yard. So it’s 3rd down and five at the Ravens 30. Baltimore call their last timeout.

Share

Ravens 10-14 Bills, 1:18 2nd quarter

Little screen to Shakir for four yards and now the ball is at the Baltimore 31. Timeout Baltimore, who are trying to extend this half and get another shot at it before they hit the lockers.

It’s 2nd and six.

Brad McMillan is unhappy with the zebras.

“I know they’ve been poor all season, but the referee errors this weekend seem particularly egregious. There was a holding flag on the Bills’ Dawkins on that last Ravens drive that genuinely made wonder if the ref was actually looking when the incident happened. I never wanted VAR in the other football (soccer), and I’ve lamented it since being introduced, but calls like that make remember why it was introduced.”

The refs are definitely getting destroyed this weekend. The gloves are off.

Ravens 10-14 Bills, 2:00 2nd quarter

The Bills start off from their own 30, looking to put up more points before halftime. After a seven-yard screen to cook, Davis runs to his right and finds room! It’s a 16-yard gain for the rookie running back.

Now Davis is running again! This time it’s a nine-yard gain, and just like that, the Bills are at the Baltimore 38! Aren’t the Ravens supposed to have a good rushing defense?

Two minute warning, advantage Bills.

The drive

Nine plays, 57 yards in 5:09 and only three points. That’s what we call a missed opportunity right there and a huge win for the Buffalo defense.

Share

FIELD GOAL! Ravens 10-14 Bills, 3:43 2nd quarter

Tucker hits the field goal from 26 yards away and that ends a drive of promise for Baltimore with a disappointing result. A big 41-yard play like that and a first and goal at the two garners three instead of seven. No good.

Share

Ravens 7-14 Bills, 3:48 2nd quarter

Jackson rolls right, throws across his body, incomplete! So here comes the field goal unit.

Share

Ravens 7-14 Bills, 3:52 2nd quarter

Henry is stuffed on first down, and then Jackson is sacked by Rousseau! Now it’s at the eight yard line and it’s 3rd down!

Share

Ravens 7-14 Bills, 5:08 2nd quarter

The Ravens need a yard: they direct snap it to the tight end, Mark Andrews, and he has just enough for a fresh set of downs. Ball on the Bills 44.

Now Jackson io back to pass and he fires way down field! Bateman has space and the ball and he’s down at the two! That will loosen up Ravens fans!

Ravens 7-14 Bills, 6:45 2nd quarter

Jackson runs for 11 and is peppered as he goes out of bounds. The refs keep their flags in their pockets. The Ravens are across midfield.

Now Henry runs ahead for seven yards, and on the next play, two. It’s 3rd & 1.

Baltimore want to talk it over as the Ravens use their first timeout.

Niall Fogarty on the first Ravens turnover. He isn’t happy.

“And that’s why Jackson simply won’t ever win as SB… even with all the talent around him, and his own….he simply isn’t a passer…. terrible terrible throw…why did he throw it?? Didn’t have to”

The key turnover

If you’re a Ravens fan you should be completely freaking out right now.

Share

TOUCHDOWN! Ravens 7-14 Bills, 8:52 2nd quarter

Allen takes it himself and the Bills take their first lead of this game, capitalizing on the Ravens turnover. Just moments ago Baltimore looked poise to put more points on the board, but instead it’s the home team that puts it in the endzone.

Both these turnovers are on Jackson, so he needs to figure this out, and fast.

Share

Ravens 7-7 Bills, 8:56 2nd quarter

It’s first and goal to go now for Buffalo who are on the move following that turnover. They hand it to Cook who runs towards the endzone. He’s wrapped up, but he’s pushing. And pushing! The pile moves until the one yard line!

What an effort!

Share

FUMBLE! Ravens 7-7 Bills, 11:05 2nd quarter

On 2nd & 10, Jackson drops back, then runs straight ahead, but Damar Hamlin frees the ball from Jackson! The ball is on the turf, that is until Von Miller picks it up! And he’s running free, all the way to the Baltimore 24! That’s the Ravens second turnover! Wow!

Share

Ravens 7-7 Bills, 11:20 2nd quarter

On 2nd & 14, the Bills blitz but Jackson isn’t phased – he jump throws a completion a five yard pass. But now it’s 3rd & 9!

Can they convert? Yes they can! Jackson finds Miller streaking across the middle on a crossing route for a 16 yard gain. They’re at the Bills 28!

Share

Ravens 7-7 Bills, 12:59 2nd quarter

Hill eats up more yardage on the ground, this time it’s an 11 yard gain.

Then Jackson has time but takes it himself! He runs to his right into open pastures! When he’s tackled, it’s in Bills territory. It’s a 16 yard gain. How do you stop this?
