New video shows suspect who allegedly killed 4, abandoned baby

(NewsNation) — Austin Drummond, the man accused of killing four people in Tennessee, is seen trying to get inside a church in new surveillance video released by police on Monday.

Drummond, 28, has been on the run since July 29 and is wanted on first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping charges in the deaths of four people.

Their bodies were discovered last week after an infant was found abandoned in front of a stranger’s house. Drummond allegedly killed the baby’s parents, grandmother and uncle.

The new surveillance video shows Drummond, armed with a black rifle and wearing camouflage, pulling door handles at a church in Jackson, the same town where a 1988 white Ford pickup he was believed to be driving was found abandoned.

John Muffler, a former U.S. marshal, told “Banfield” on Monday that people in the area where the video was captured need to be vigilant and pay attention to their surroundings.

“Understand what fits and doesn’t fit,” Muffler said. “Understand if they are seeing things missing from their car, from their house, that they need to report even the little things, because they can become big things.”

Three arrests made

Three people, Dearrah Sanders, Tanaka Brown and Giovonte Thomas, have already been arrested for allegedly helping Drummond, who police say is part of a gang called the “Vice Lords.”

Muffler said that in the video, Drummond looked like he may have been signaling to someone, which could mean he has additional people helping him.

“It’s a huge piece to the puzzle here,” Muffler said of those who allegedly helped Drummond. “Law enforcement is definitely working that angle. They have a lot to lose, obviously, with not cooperating.”

A reward for information leading to Drummond’s capture has reached $30,000. In addition, new documents filed by the U.S. Marshals Service say Drummond may have fled the state.
