JioStar is aiming to expand its subscriber base to 100 million.

The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 kicked off on Saturday, with millions of cricket fanatics set to watch all the matches on JioStar. The IPL is expected to break advertising revenue records, with JioStar targeting revenue of Rs 4,500 crore, Times Now reported, citing sources.
JioStar has secured 32 confirmed sponsorship deals and has additional agreements in the pipeline. The broadcaster is aiming to expand its subscriber base to 100 million. Mukesh Ambani’s company has major sponsors such as My11Circle, PhonePe, SBI, Britannia 50-50, Amazon Prime, Dream11, TVS, Maruti, and Amul.
This season, the IPL has welcomed 1,100 advertisers. Sanjog Gupta, the chief executive of sports at JioStar, stated that “IPL 2025 will be the largest edition, in terms of both advertising and subscriptions,” as reported by the outlet.
Massive Surge In Jiostar’s Subscription
JioStar has a subscription base of 62 million, and it is aggressively focusing on 40 million additional subscribers during the IPL 2025. For this, the company is using sign-ups and telecom-bundled deals.
The 2025 IPL season kicked off with a notable match featuring the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where RCB secured a convincing win by seven wickets in the inaugural game.
In February this year, Reliance and Disney announced a mega-merger of Hotstar and Jiocinema. After combining both platforms, the companies made the JioHotstar platform live in February. This platform combines the content of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar.
This merger combines some of the most valuable sports rights in India, such as the Indian Premier League, International Cricket Council events, and the English Premier League, along with content from prominent international studios including Disney, Warner Bros., HBO, NBCUniversal Peacock, and Paramount, all consolidated in one entity.
