CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced that the West Virginia Department of Administration will begin an initiative to make the permitting and licensing process more efficient.
The One-Stop-Shop Permitting Portal comes after lawmakers passed a bill in the regular legislative session that tasked the DOA with implementing a permitting portal used as a single-entry point for a variety of needs across state government.
According to a release from Morrisey’s office, the portal will include application submission, payment processing, permit tracking, renewals, and communication between agencies and applicants.

Morrisey, in a statement, said having a speedy process in line will help the state bring in new businesses.
“Having a simplified permitting process is going to help businesses move to West Virginia and get started here quickly. Speed is a priority in my economic development strategy and the one-stop permitting portal is going to quickly create more jobs and opportunities for West Virginians,” Morrisey said.
The DOA is preparing a formal Request for Information, which will gather vendors’ input on technologies and systems that could help in the project. The public can view the RFI here: acrobat.adobe.com
