Dear Reader,
In all the years I have been studying astrology, I have never seen so many major outer planets change signs within one year. That is what is underway now.
Before I list the planets that are on the move, I want to add that April’s manuscript ran 40,000 words divided by 12 signs.
You may already know that Pluto, after having spent 16 years in Capricorn(2008-2024), entered Aquarius for a 20-year stay, until January 2044. It takes Pluto 248 years to circle the Sun and all 12 zodiac signs. The reason Pluto’s stays in any one sign can vary is that Pluto’s orbit is more oval than round.
The last time Pluto was in Aquarius was at the time of the American Revolution and the French Revolution.
Last month, on March 30, Neptune entered Aries for a brief preview to stay until October 22 of this year. Then Neptune will retreat back to Pisces to tie up loose ends and return to Aries from January 26, 2026, until March 2039.
No one living today has ever experienced Pluto in Aquarius or Neptune in Aries. The last time Neptune was in Aries, it was 1861 to 1875 (yes, that was the time of the Civil War in America. Let’s hope we won’t have to go through anything like that again.)
Neptune is the planet that governs the arts and inspires imagination and creativity, but Neptune can confuse by deception or obfuscation. Saturn will travel with Neptune, so that won’t be as big a problem.
Next month, Saturn will enter Aries for a short preview, May 24 until September 1. After that, Saturn will retreat back into Pisces until he will re-enter Aries for good on February 13, 2026, and remain until April 2028.
When was the last time Saturn was in Aries? It was from April 1996 to February 1999. Saturn is the great teacher and imparts a sense of practicality.
In June, Jupiter is due to move into Cancer for one year, from June 9, 2025, to stay until June 30, 2026. Jupiter is the giver of gifts and luck and has not graced Cancer since June 2013 to July 2014.
In July of this year, Uranus will move from Taurus to Gemini. It will be for a small preview, specifically from July 7, 2025, to November 7, 2025. Uranus will return to Taurus to finish things up, and then re-enter Gemini from April 2026 to August 2032. Uranus previously was in Gemini from 1942 to 1949.
Five outer planets, all changing signs.
This enormous shift of the planets into different signs will have a big influence on each of us. Life will look and feel entirely different, and it will require adjustment. New opportunities will sprout up too—ones you’ve never been offered—so there will an upside to this change.
The smaller, faster moving “personal planets” (the ones that orbit closest to earth and that we feel the most when retrograde) were making news, too. We were hit with an avalanche of retrograde planets, starting back on November 25, 2024, when Mercury went retrograde during the holiday shopping season and went direct December 15.
Overlapping this retrograde was Mars retrograde, which seemed so long it felt endless, from December 6, 2024, to February 23, 2025.
We were barely coming up for air when Venus went retrograde starting from March 1. Venus will go direct April 12. Mercury, the little copycat that he is, went retrograde too, March 15 to April 7.
If you were wondering why your seemed a bit less productive than usual, you can blame this slew of retrogrades. Each planet after it retrogrades needs time to regain its power. Like a person awakening from a long sleep, the planet needs a little coffee and time to shake off his grogginess.
Mercury will become strong on April 26, Mars will become superstrong by May 2, and Venus will be in great condition by May 16.
We had two eclipses in March, and two more are due in September. We saw the last of the Libra-Aries series of eclipses arrive with the solar eclipse in Aries on March 29. You will continue to feel that eclipse in April and possibly for months ahead. We also saw a lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 13, and we’ll being seeing more in the Virgo-Pisces family of signs during the coming two years. The next ones are due September 7 and September 21, and I give a sum-up for each in my calendar.
For all practical purposes, I have announced the official start of 2025 begins at the glorious new moon in Gemini on May 26. I love that new moon. From then on, life will become a little more stable and predictable—and much more productive.
I did not write a book on The Year Ahead 2025 because I didn’t want to tell you that the first five months of the year were going to be frustrating due to that slew of retrograde planets. I knew those planets would give the New Year a slow start, with each of us going two steps forward and one step back, over and over. Now we are close to the sparkling part of the year, so the best lies ahead.
Thank you for all the kind letters you have sent me about how much you love my 2025 Year Ahead Astrological Calendar. I wanted to mention that a young, knowledgeable astrologer named Vivi Henriette is giving an astrological festival in Los Angles this month on the weekend of April 26. I will not be able to attend, but I did have a long lunch with Vivi recently in Los Angeles and was impressed with Vivi’s deep knowledge and enthusiasm for astrology. You might want to look into attending and buy a ticket before they sell out.

(The calendar includes January 2026, so you still receive nine months of forecasting). She can take cash, Venmo, or checks. She is not sure how many to sell at the festival, so if you want to write to Vivi to reserve yours or ask about the LA Astro Festival, her email address is:

You will note this month that some forecasts are noticeably longer than others, and this month it would be critical you read for both your Sun sign and your rising sign to have a complete picture of what is on the way. This month, I speak not only about April but about months ahead, too. Why are some forecasts longer than others? Some signs need more of me this month than others—those signs with longer forecasts will likely have more to adjust to than others.
I am dedicated to providing you the most comprehensive, detailed, and accurate information available anywhere, in any media.
Grab a cup of coffee and start reading—there was so much to share with you!
Warmly,
Susan
