BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee Sunday claimed that the average monthly income of farmers in Tripura has more than doubled since the saffron party came to power in the state in 2018.
“To double the income of farmers, our Prime Minister adopted different steps, such as Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card, and Soil Health Card… A survey shows that the average monthly income of farmers in the state was Rs 6,580. Now, we can proudly say that they are earning an average of Rs 13,590 per month… Our state government is also working to make the agriculture sector atmanirbhar (self-dependent),” Bhattacharjee said during an event organised by the BJP Kisan Morcha in Agartala.
He added that the state government has taken the initiative to export pineapple produced in Tripura to different countries.
In the North Eastern Council plenary session held in Agartala last month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged farmers to connect with the National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL) and assured them that they would get at least 30 per cent profit for their organic products in the next two to three years.
