LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Greenbrier County deputies have arrested a woman in connection with her missing daughter.

Greenbrier County Deputies were notified this past Saturday the juvenile girl had been missing since July 2nd from the Davis Stuart Apartments, but was only now being reported missing. Deputies spoke to the parents and a day later were able to speak with the girl’s friends about her possible whereabouts.

The girl was found through a friend and was contacted by deputies. The investigators learned from the missing juvenile she was the victim of abuse and advised it was why she left the household and ran away. She was staying with another family and deputies were satisfied her situation was safe and stable. They left her there while investigating the mother.

The mother, Rosa Isabel Izaguirre Martinez, was arrested on a charge of felony child abuse. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of an unrelated ailment and later to the Southern Regional Jail. She was booked on the charges, but officials from the West Virginia Field Office of Homeland Security made contact with deputies and placed a detainer on Martinez while investigating her citizenship status

Child Protective Services determined due the nature of the charges it was in the best interest of the female victim to leave her in the custody of the household where she was found in a safe environment.
