The Met Office issued the warning late on Sunday night (March 9)
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for fog across areas of northern England. The yellow weather warning, issued late on Sunday night, is in force for more than 10 hours, between 10.40pm on Sunday (March 9) and 9pm on Monday (March 10).
Traffic and travel disruption is possible in some areas as a result of fog. The warning is in force across the North East and Yorkshire (a full list of areas covered is below).
The Met Office weather warning states: “Fog will continue to develop across parts of northeast England, Yorkshire and Humberside through Sunday night. Some dense fog is likely in places with the visibility falling to 50 metres at times. Fog will lift during Monday morning.
“Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, leaving extra journey time, or amending plans if necessary. Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey. Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may also be affected; check for updates from your travel company and follow their advice.”
