Meghan McCain announced that she is expecting her third child – a baby boy.
The 40-year-old shared the news during a conversation with JD Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, on an upcoming episode of her Citizen McCain podcast obtained by People.
‘I hope you don’t mind – I wanted to let you in on something that is private that I haven’t talked about publicly yet,’ McCain told Usha.
She explained that she has admired how Usha and her husband incorporate their children into their lives.
McCain made the announcement despite having only met Usha Vance about 20 minutes before the interview.
She said she is currently in her second trimester.
The former View co-host admitted she is feeling uneasy about expanding her family.
‘I’m very nervous about having a boy, and I’m very nervous about having three children. Very,’ she said.

She noted that this is the first time she has spoken about the pregnancy in a public setting.
McCain mentioned reading studies that suggest three children is the hardest number to parent.
She brought up the data in her conversation with Usha and asked for her perspective as a mother of three.
Usha, who shares Ewan, 8, Vivek, 5, and Mirabel, 3, with the Vice President, responded positively about the experience.
‘I love having three kids. I’m a huge proponent of it,’ Usha said.
She explained that having three children allows them to form a ‘pack’ and build sibling connections.
McCain appeared interested in hearing more about raising boys specifically.
She said she had always heard that boys tend to be more rambunctious than girls.
