A bank holiday weekend is just the time you need to kick back and relax from the non-stop hustle of your work life. You can use the time to see family, and friends, or you can take the opportunity to finally book a short holiday to a place you’ve always wanted to go to.

While a summer bank holiday weekend is usually a chance to bask in the sun, as the Met Office predicts, there might be a chance for “more unsettled conditions” to develop.

Nevertheless, with the weekend starting from Saturday, May 24 and ending on Monday, May 26 — it still gives you three days for all your rest and relaxation.

Whether you are travelling or sitting back home to relax and recuperate, it’s worth checking when some of the most popular retailers would be opening or closing their doors this bank holiday weekend.

Retail chain Aldi has released its timetable for the upcoming bank holiday weekend, and while the timings are the same for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), it will be slightly different for the Bank Holiday on Monday.

Aldi timings for the bank holiday weekend

  • Saturday, May 24 and Sunday May 25: Aldi stores across the UK will follow their regular opening hours
  • Bank Holiday Monday, May 26: Stores will stay open until 8pm, in England and Wales, and until 10pm as normal in Scotland.

However, the retailer has said that the timings at some of its stores might differ.

Therefore, it has advised customers to look at their local Aldi store’s website before they make their shopping trip.

Calling itself the “UK’s cheapest supermarket”, the retailer has said that it can provide any item one might need for an “amazing Bank Holiday.”

This includes fresh meat, vegetarian and vegan options, sides, sweet treats and several varieties of drinks.

What does the weather look like as of now?

In its long range forecast for Friday, May 23 to Sunday, June 1 — the Met Office has predicted “spells of rain” and a risk of strong winds in some places.

The full met office forecast reads: “ As we head into the bank holiday weekend and following week, a change in weather type is expected. More unsettled conditions are likely to develop, with weather systems moving in from the Atlantic.

“The change is likely to happen first in the northwest, probably later on Friday or through Saturday.

“This will see frontal systems bringing spells of rain, perhaps heavy at times, with a risk of strong winds in places, and these conditions will gradually spread across the UK as we go through the weekend.

“Drier and brighter intervals are likely between systems but with showers, some of which could be heavy / thundery. Temperatures will probably be close to average, perhaps slightly above at times, but will feel fairly cool in the often strong winds.”
