PSG wonderkid Desire Doue has been a revelation in the Champions League this season
Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly ready to battle it out to sign PSG winger Desire Doue this summer.
The 19-year-old arrived in the French capital from Stade Rennais last summer and while he was considered to be a top prospect in France, he has announced himself on the European stage this season. Without hesitation, Luis Enrique thrusted Doue into the PSG first-team and the teenager has flourished.
In 46 appearances, the winger has bagged 13 goals and 12 assists for his new club. This included a goal against Aston Villa in the quarter-finals of the Champions League at the Parc des Princes.
Unsurprisingly, interest is now strong to try and lure the forward away from Ligue 1. According to TEAMtalk, both Manchester clubs hold an interest in Doue, with Pep Guardiola reportedly giving City the green light to try and sign the winger this summer.
City scouts are thought to have attended several of PSG’s recent matches and Guardiola is considered to be a big admirer of the forward. It is believed that Doue’s price tag starts at £85m which is more than double what they spent to bring him to the club.
However, considering how well he has played for the Parisians, City may find this to be the cheapest fee they could ever pay for Doue. United’s interest is considered to be less concrete than that of City with their ongoing Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) position making them outsiders.
They are admirers of Doue though and will be keeping him under surveillance. Chelsea and Arsenal both missed out on Doue before he joined PSG and could reignite their interest this summer.
