Luqmaan Ahmed, has appeared at the Old Bailey
A Manchester man is to stand trial next year for allegedly encouraging terrorism on Instagram.
Luqmaan Ahmed, 23, is charged with three counts of encouraging terrorism relating to two videos and a statement allegedly posted in September and November 2022 and July 2023.
The defendant appeared for a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey before Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb today (Friday).
Defence barrister Andrew Morris told the court the defendant had said he was ‘always anti-Isis’.
He had accepted making the posts but did not believe he had been ‘reckless’ as to whether members of the public would be directly or indirectly encouraged, Mr Morris said.
