Manchester City are reportedly one of several European sides interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson this summer.

According to Sky Sports Germany, the 20-year-old is aware of the interest from the reigning Premier League champions and “initial talks” between the two clubs have taken place.

But if City are to pursue a move for Larsson, 20, at the end of the season, it is said that his signature would not come cheap as the 2022 Europa League winners would be ready to demand a fee of roughly £50m.

The eight-cap Sweden international has featured in all but one of Frankfurt’s 27 Bundesliga games this season, providing three goals and three assists to put Dino Toppmoller’s side in pole position to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Larsson is under contract until 2029 and is reportedly attracting interest from other Bundesliga clubs, as well as City’s domestic rivals – Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier this week, Premier League clubs agreed to open the summer transfer window from June 1 until June 10 to allow clubs to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup.

City and Chelsea are the Premier League’s sole representatives in the month-long tournament in the United States and therefore could, theoretically, sign Larsson in time for the inaugural edition of the new-look, 32-team competition.

After the window closes on June 10, it will reopen six days later before closing on Monday, September 1.

In January, City spent nearly £200m on reinforcements for Pep Guardiola’s squad, with Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis, Abdukodir Khuasnov and Nico Gonzalez all arriving at the Etihad.

City are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they face Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
