Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has shared a cryptic message after being axed by Ruben Amorim during the victory over Ipswich Town on Wednesday night.

With the Reds leading 2-1, Amorim was forced into a tactical reshuffle after Patrick Dorgu was shown a straight red card for a studs up challenge on Ipswich winger Omari Hutchinson. Now down to ten men, the United boss made the immediate decision to take off Garnacho and replace him with Noussair Mazraoui in a bid to strengthen the backline.

This decision appeared to frustrate Garnacho as he walked straight down the tunnel instead of rejoining his teammates on the bench. In his post-match press conference, Amorim indicated he was unhappy with the winger’s attitude to being substituted, telling reporters: “I am going to talk with Garnacho about that.

“I will talk about that in the next press conference.” While Amorim was addressing the media, Garnacho took to Instagram but instead of posting a celebratory message on his story, he chose to share an image of him trudging down the side of the pitch looking disgruntled.

This is not the first time that Garnacho and Amorim have had a clear difference of opinion. Ahead of the Manchester derby, the United head coach chose to drop Garnacho, and Marcus Rashford, out of the team entirely after being unimpressed with the duo’s attitudes in training.

While Rashford remained on the fringes, Garnacho earned his place back in the United squad immediately. During the January transfer window, Chelsea pushed hard to sign the winger and his agents were spotted watching the Blues at Stamford Bridge, fueling speculation.
