A man has been charged with murder over the stabbing death of an 82-year-old at a hotel in Victoria.
Police were called to the Sir Charles Hotham Hotel on Brougham Street in Geelong last night, where an 82-year-old New Zealand national was found injured in an upstairs room.
Detectives arrested a 34-year-old man from Geelong this afternoon on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne’s CBD.
He has since been charged with murder.
Police said the 82-year-old’s family were extremely upset over the incident.
“He’s come from New Zealand to be with his son, obviously his family are aware of what’s occurred, they’re extremely upset,” Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said.
