A 32-year-old man charged in the alleged sexual assault of a youth in Vaughan posed as an 18-year-old prior to engaging in intercourse with the victim, police said.
York Regional Police stated that the victim had connected with the suspect through an online messaging platform several months earlier. The accused claimed to be 18 years old and consistently maintained this age throughout their conversations.
On Feb. 18, 2025, the suspect arranged for a ride-share to transport the victim from their school to his residence, where he then allegedly engaged in sexual activity with the victim.
Police said the victim reported the incident to police a day later, believing the accused was older than he portrayed. Authorities eventually determined that the man was older than 18 years of age.
Tanner Guile, 32, of Mississauga, was identified and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference with a person under 16, telecommunication with a person under or believed under 16 years for specific criminal offences and invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age.
Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect as they believe there to be more victims.
