Maharashtra: Congress to rake up ‘electroral fraud’, NCP (SP) to monitor 100-day programme | Mumbai News

While opposition Congress will embark on a public outreach campaign against the alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls for the Maharashtra Assembly polls, its ally Nationalist Congress Party (SP) has announced to form a team to monitor the state government’s 100-day programme.

The NCP (SP) on Friday held a meeting of its senior leadership to chalk out the party strategy ahead of the upcoming Budget Session of the state legislature. Party chief Sharad Pawar distributed responsibilities of various regions to senior leaders. Anil Deshmukh and Rajendra Shingne will be in-charge of Vidarbha while Marathawada region will be looked after by Rajesh Tope and Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar. In Western Maharashtra, Shashikant Shinde and Harshvardhan Patil will work while in Konkan, Sunil Bhusara and Jitendra Awhad will look after the party functioning.

“We will also be forming teams, which will work as shadow-cabinet to monitor the 100-day programme announced by the state government,” said Lok Sabha MP Amol Kolhe.

The Maharashtra Congress on the other hand on Friday held a meeting over the allegations of fraud in electoral rolls. “Our leader Rahul Gandhi had raised a simple request in Lok Sabha. He sought compiled final voter list in electronic form. The Election Commission of India is afraid and indulging in delaying tactics. Therefore, we have decided to take the battle to the people’s court. We will be launching a public outreach campaign against the ‘frauds’ committed in the recently held Assembly elections and we will take facts to the people,” said Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal.

AICC member Gurdeep Sappal said, “The party when approached the Delhi High court with its demand, the election commission sought three more months. On one hand it claims that the system is full-proof while on the other hand it refuses to share the information.”

MVA meet

NCP (SP) Lok Sabha MP Amol Kolhe said the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will be meeting before the budget session to finalise the strategy on the Leader of Opposition in the legislative assembly.
