Maharashtra Assembly elections: Jarange keeps candidates names under wraps | Pune News

Even as Maratha activist Manoj Jarange-Patil has decided to keep his list of candidates under wraps till the last date of filing of nominations, he has asked aspirants to file their nominations in all six seats of Beed district. At the same time, the activist also clarified that he has not extended support to any party or alliance.

“I will, by October 30, decide on the list of candidates. I want to see how many Dalits, Muslims and Marathas file their nominations,” Jarange said in Antarwarli-Saraati today.

The activist said it was important to keep an eye on equations. “You can’t rely only on one caste. Only when Marathas, Muslims and Dalits come together, can we ensure change in the state. It will be a 100 per cent change. Will our community join the decision making process? I want to see if this happens. So far, we have not extended any support to any party or alliance in Maharashtra,” he said.

Jarange said currently there were too many aspirants for tickets, “and constituencies are few. I can take a decision about 100-150 candidates but I can’t annoy six crore Marathas,” he said.

As per to his close associates, Jarange has asked aspirants to file nominations in all six Beed Assembly constituencies. “As many as 17 aspirants were interviewed by the activist. All of them have been told to file their nomination papers,” a close aide said.

Festive offer

Meanwhile, Jarange has appealed to those seeking a meeting with him to stay away till October 30. ”I want to decide on the candidates. Those names will be announced on October 30,” he said.
