Released in 2019, Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Apoorva Mehta together produced this film. The movie featured nine big names from the industry, including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Kiara Advani, Kriti Sanon, and Kunal Khemu.
However, despite having a huge cast and a mega budget, the movie turned out to be a huge flop. According to Sacnilk, with a budget of Rs 150 crore, the movie only collected Rs 84 crore at the box office, making it a major failure.
Talking about its worldwide collection, Kalank earned Rs 146.80 crore globally. The film could not even recover its cost. It was released on a total of 5,300 screens—4,000 screens in India and 1,300 screens abroad.
Though the audience appreciated the performances of Sanjay Dutt and Varun Dhawan, the storyline failed to capture their attention. The movie is considered one of the biggest flops of Alia Bhatt’s career.
