The Lancashire music festival was cancelled on Friday including a headline set from Alanis Morissette
It’s the North West’s largest music festival, but on Friday evening, organisers of Lytham Festival were forced to cancel due to poor weather conditions. This morning they have issued an update and shared more information with concert-goers.
Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette was due to headline the seaside festival in Lancashire on Friday but the set was cancelled on Friday afternoon. Lottery Winners, Train and Liz Phair were also due to perform.
In a statement issued on Friday afternoon, organisers blamed ‘adverse weather conditions’ and the likelihood of ‘increasing high winds’ throughout Friday night.
It’s understood a decision was taken on site together with the police as crowds were inside the arena.

Images shared on social media showed a billboard sign at the festival saying: “Ladies and gentlemen, this performance will not be continuing.”
A full statement said: “Due to adverse weather conditions, we unfortunately have had to make the decision to cancel this evening. The safety of our customers, staff and artists is our priority and increasing high winds mean it would not be safe to go ahead.
“All customers will receive a full refund for tonight’s show. Please wait to hear from your ticket agent for further information.”
The festival, which is staged on the banks of Lancashire’s Ribble Estuary, began with a headline set from Stevie Wonder on Thursday and continued over the weekend, with a headlining set from superstar Justin Timberlake and it closed in style on Sunday with a double headlining night with Scottish rock icons Simple Minds and Texas.
Guests over the three nights included Corinne Bailey Rae, Jess Glynne, Dagny and Cast. Sunday also saw a special tribute to The Alarm’s Mike Peter’s.
The Alarm were due to play at the festival, but Mike sadly died at the end of April. To honour his legacy, Mike’s wife Jules made a heartwarming tribute to her husband before introducing their musician son Evan to the stage to play three songs in his father’s memory.
This morning, following a resumption of proceedings on the Saturday and Sunday, organisers have issued a fresh update including some exciting news about next year.

The festival will return for its 15th anniversary year in 2026 for five nights next year from Wednesday July 1 to Sunday July 5.
Commenting on the Friday night cancellation and next year’s festival, Lytham Festival co-founder Peter Taylor said: “What a week. Once again we’ve have had the honour of welcoming incredible artists to our stage on Lytham Green.
“Sadly, our Friday night headlining show with Alanis Morissette had to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions but thankfully the weather improved for Saturday and Sunday and we have enjoyed three huge sold out nights.
“Plans are already well underway for 2026. It’s going to be a very special year for us as we celebrate the 15th anniversary of Lytham Festival and we look forward to revealing more details and the amazing line-up we have planned very soon.”
