Millions of doses of fentanyl and methamphetamine-laced pills and powder were seized by police, including pills shaped like candy hearts, according to officials.
A Lynn man pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston last week for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking operation in Massachusetts, a statement from United States Attorney Leah B. Foley.
Emilio Garcia, also known as “6,” 26, of Lynn, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possess controlled substances with intent to distribute, according to the statement. He will be sentenced in May.
Many of the seized drug-laced pills were shaped like pink hearts, meant to mimic candy, according to officials.
An investigation into an overdose death in Salem led investigators to Garcia and his organization, according to the statement.
In November 2023, millions of doses of fentanyl and methamphetamine-laced pills and power were seized from locations used by the organization, according to officials.
Police said they seized 20 pounds of pink heart-shaped drug-laced pills, more than 198 pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as smaller amounts of cocaine and cutting agents such as xylazine. Guns were also seized, according to the statement.
The street value of the seizure is believed to be more than $7 million, according to the statement.
