Low-intensity blast in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar, 1 injured: Police | Delhi News

A low-intensity blast was reported near a sweet shop in the Prashant Vihar area in Northwest Delhi’s Rohini on Thursday morning, injuring a man.

The Delhi Police said they received a call at around 11.41 am informing them about an explosion in a white powder-like substance in a park. Fire department officials said they were informed about a blast around 11.48 am following which four fire tenders were rushed to the location.


delhi Investigation into the case suggested that the blast may have been caused after a cigarette butt — thrown by a man walking his dog — came in contact with industrial waste in a garbage dump, officials said.

According to the Delhi Police, the windows and windshield of a parked vehicle were intact after the blast, indicating that it could be explosives of low quality. They added that teams from the fire department, bomb squad, crime, forensics as well as local police are at the spot.

On October 20, a loud explosion took place near the CRPF School in Prashant Vihar area of Rohini’s Sector 14, prompting police and a bomb squad to rush to the spot, along with the fire brigade.

Investigation into the case suggested that the blast may have been caused after a cigarette butt — thrown by a man walking his dog — came in contact with industrial waste in a garbage dump, officials said. Based on circumstantial evidence, sources in the Delhi Police and other central intelligence agencies probing the blast said they have not found any “terror angle” so far.
