(NewsNation) — The jury found Lori Vallow Daybell guilty of conspiring to kill her estranged husband in her Arizona trial.
Charles Vallow died at Vallow Daybell’s home in 2019, shot by her brother, Alex Cox. Prosecutors argued she and her brother conspired to kill Vallow and use money from his life insurance to marry her then-boyfriend, Chad Daybell.
Vallow Daybell said she is willing to stipulate to aggravating factors. She agreed the victim’s family suffered emotional and physical harm and she had an accomplice.
Vallow Daybell told the judge she would like her sentencing to happen after her next trial, which starts in early June.
The jury began deliberations Monday following closing arguments.
Vallow Daybell, who represented herself, did not put forth witnesses in her defense but argued her former husband’s death was a tragedy, not a crime.
Cox, who previously claimed he shot Vallow in self-defense, died months after the shooting due to a blood clot.
Vallow Daybell is already serving multiple life sentences in Idaho after she was found guilty of killing her children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow. She was also found guilty of conspiring to murder Daybell’s then-wife.
Vallow had filed for a divorce before his death. Witnesses testified to Vallow Daybell’s cultlike beliefs, including statements she allegedly made that her husband was dead and that a zombie was living in his body.
This is the first trial for Vallow Daybell in Arizona. She also faces charges of conspiring to murder Brandon Boudreaux, her niece’s ex-husband. That trial is set to be held in early June.
