Locals fuming as Bronte Beach left covered in rubbish on Boxing Day

Local residents were fuming this morning as Bronte Beach in Sydney’s east was seen covered in rubbish on Boxing Day after a busy Christmas.

Bronte Beach was packed with revellers yesterday, with an estimated 10,000 people enjoying the gorgeous Sydney Christmas weather.

This morning, beer bottles, food and other rubbish remained strewn across much of the beach’s barbecue areas and grass.

Despite bins being positioned around the parklands, animals and birds were also seen feeding on the leftover piles of rubbish.

Cleanup crews from the local council arrived about 5am, and spent much of the morning shovelling up the garbage.

“I’m going through the mood swings this morning to be honest,” one local resident told 9News.

“The mess isn’t that great, but its really good to see loads of people out here tidying up,” another beachgoer said.
