The revamp has introduced a new pool-golf hybrid that uses pool cues to shoot balls around novelty obstacles
A popular venue in the city centre has reopened following a major makeover which features some very unique features.
Roxy Ball Room, in Deansgate, had been closed temporarily as refurbishment works were undergone but has now reopened with several new additions to its games offerings – including an exclusive new game of ‘crazy pool’.
Known for combining bar culture with arcade-fun, the venue now has more to explore across both its floors – including karaoke rooms, duckpin bowling, shuffleboard and two-way beer pong.
The two-storey Deansgate venue, which first opened in 2017, is one of the two Roxy sites now operating in Manchester. The brand now also has venues in Liverpool, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, York and Sheffield.
To be more in line with its larger counterpart venue in the Arndale, owners of the Deansgate site said it was in need of a significant revamp and will include a refreshed upstairs bar space, as well as more game additions, like American pool, tech darts, and ice-free curling.
The downstairs space also now includes five new American pool tables, arcade games, multiple ping-pong and beer-pong tables and two new karaoke rooms, which has been described as Roxy’s most popular activity with visitors.
One of the more unique additions to the venue is their exclusive new game, crazy pool, a 9-hole pool-golf hybrid that uses pool cues to shoot balls around novelty obstacles, in the style of crazy golf. After firstly being introduced at the Arndale branch, it has quickly become one of Roxy’s most demanded activities.
Going big on its karaoke offerings, the venue will also be introducing a new karaoke bottomless brunch, which is expected to draw in popularity with large groups.
Roxy Leisure, the group behind Roxy Ball Room, was founded in Leeds in 2013 by two brothers, Matt and Ben Jones, and was one of the first in the UK to introduce the idea of ‘competitive socialising’.
Since its launch, Roxy Leisure has now accumulated 19 venues across the UK, with more expected to open this year. There are also a number of venues across the country now offering similar experiences for customers.
‘It’s been a fantastic few years for Roxy Ball Room Deansgate, so we thought what better way to say thank you to our customers for their support than by introducing even more games for them to enjoy, just in time for the summer,” said Joel Mitchell, marketing director at Roxy Leisure.

The relaunch means Roxy now operates two fully equipped venues in Manchester city centre, with both offering slightly different experiences.
While the Arndale site remains the largest, the changes at Deansgate aim to give visitors more variety. It is now open daily.
