Leanne Campbell has reflected on a time when a cosmetic procedure went wrong. The radio host broadcast her final show for Hits Radio, formerly known as Radio City, having co-hosted the show for more than 10 years. The programme was the only one left on Hits Radio Liverpool that had a direct Merseyside link.

Leanne also presents her own podcast called Ladies Of Liverpool. In a recent episode, Leanne chatted to her former radio co-star Dave Kelly. Leanne and Dave previously worked together on the Radio City breakfast show.

The pair recalled a funny moment when Leanne had a face lift procedure go wrong a few years ago. Dave wanted to share some exciting news at the time but he was taken by surprise when his colleague didn’t want to facetime.

Leanne had had a fibroblast face lift, also known as plasma fibroblast therapy, which aims to lift and tighten the skin. However, the procedure went wrong and she was left burnt around her eyes.

Reminiscing on the experience, Leanne explained she received a text from Dave asking to facetime so he could share his big news. When Leanne declined the video call, Dave said: “It’s got to be facetime I need to look at you when I’m saying this.”

Worried about what the news could be, Leanne said: “I can’t mate, I can’t let you look at me!” But she soon answered the phone call wearing glasses to hide her eyes.

Speaking to podcast listeners, she said: “I’d had a fibroblast or something so I looked like a wrestler, all my eyes had been burned and I had this terrible reaction.

She explained: “I had two swollen big eyes and he [Dave] facetimes me and he tells me they’re pregnant.” While laughing she joked: “I was like ‘I can’t cry because it’s hurting my blisters!'”

Despite her procedure going wrong, Leanne looked back on the situation as funny memory. After learning Dave’s exciting news, she said: “It was the most amazing moment!”

Leanne shared the short video clip to her Instagram page. Fans rushed to the comments after seeing the radio hosts reunite for the podcast.

One said: “God I bloody miss you two.” A second said: “Gosh so missing the breakfast show – have tried a few alternatives but none of them are cutting the mustard – resorted to radio silence of a morning now !!” A third added: “I loved you two best there was.”

Leanne Campbell’s next career move has been confirmed following her final breakfast show last week. Parent company Bauer Media revealed that it would scrap local and regional breakfast shows on all of its Hits Radio stations for the whole of England and Wales from June 9.

The Scouser has remained positive and upbeat in the months that have followed the devastating blow – and now her next career move has been revealed. She will star in The Epstein Theatre pantomime this Christmas, with her role in the show confirmed as part of a cast announcement.

Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn will play the title role of Cinderella at the Hanover Street venue, and she will be joined on the Epstein stage by panto royalty Leanne Campbell, who will be waving her magic wand over the Regal Entertainments Ltd show as the Fairy Godmother.
