Latest PSL 2025 Standings After Zalmi Romp Past Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars’ PSL 2025 homecoming did not go according to plan, as Peshawar Zalmi easily defeated them by seven wickets to keep pace with others in the latest PSL 2025 standings.

Set a modest target of 130, Zalmi made light work of the total, wrapping up the match in just 16.4 overs thanks to composed knocks by Hussain Talat and captain Babar Azam. Despite a shaky start—with Saim Ayub dismissed early by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Tom Kohler-Cadmore falling to Haris Rauf without scoring—Babar Azam (56* off 42) anchored the innings with his trademark fluency. He found an able partner in Hussain Talat, who smashed an unbeaten 51 off 37 deliveries, with the pair stitching together a 93-run stand for the fourth wicket that took the game away from Lahore.

Mohammad Haris chipped in with a brisk 20 before becoming Afridi’s second scalp, but by then, Zalmi were well on course. Afridi was once again Lahore’s standout bowler, with figures of 2 for 22 in his four overs, but his efforts were in vain as the Qalandars slumped to their second straight loss.

The match was practically decided in the first innings when Zalmi asked Shaheen’s men to bat first. A top-order collapse saw them reduced to 21 for 4 inside the powerplay, with Alzarri Joseph (3 for 15) and Luke Wood (2 for 25) running riot with the new ball. Only Sikandar Raza provided some resistance, compiling a spirited 52 off 37 balls—including five boundaries and three sixes—to drag Lahore to 129 before they were bowled out in the final over.

It was a disjointed and dismal batting display, with seven players failing to reach double digits. Sam Billings (9), Shaheen Afridi (16), and Rishad Hossain (13) offered fleeting support, but there was little else of substance.

6 Multan Sultans 5 1 4 0 2 -1.764

With this win, Zalmi have further strengthened their push toward the playoffs, while Lahore needs to get its act together quickly, especially with Quetta gunning for their spot as well.

PSL 2025 will continue with Quetta Gladiators taking on Karachi Kings in this very arena.
