A Kuwaiti government employee has been handed a five-year prison sentence for accepting a KD50 bribe (approximately $162), as reported by local media. The individual, employed at the Ministry of Justice, was accused of soliciting bribes to speed up the processing of official transactions.
Authorities launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off and substantiated the claims. The employee was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. During interrogation, he confessed to accepting payments in exchange for prioritizing certain requests over others.
This incident is part of an ongoing campaign in Kuwait to combat corruption, which has led to the arrest of multiple government workers for similar misconduct.
