Former world number one Katie Boulter is currently competing on home turf at Wimbledon, near her southwest London home. She shares her guide to her favourite spots in the capital.
Home is in southwest London with my fiancé (tennis player Alex de Minaur) We’ve lived here for two years.

Where do you stay in London?
I normally stay at home, but when I don’t, I go for Marriott hotels. I love the one near the London Eye. It’s that contrast of luxury and history in one building, and the view outside is straight onto some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
Where was your first flat in London?
What was your first job in London?
My first and only job has been as a professional tennis player.
Where in London would you recommend for a first date?
I’d recommend a quintessential English pub. One of my first dates was at The Lillie Langtry in Fulham — cosy, relaxed, and full of charm.
Which shop would you go to, to buy a present for a partner or spouse?
Right now, I’d probably go to Aimé Leon Dore or Liberty. Both feel thoughtful and stylish.
Which 5 London shops or outlets do you rely on?
Liberty, Whole Foods, Aimé Leon Dore, the Nike store, and my local coffee shop.
What’s the best meal you’ve had in London?
That’s tough — so many good ones. I used to love Le Boudin Blanc before it closed. These days, Roka and Cambio de Tercio are my go to spots. I love all cuisines, especially Asian fusion and sushi, and the croquetas at Cambio are a personal favourite.
Who is the most iconic Londoner in history?
Queen Elizabeth. She’s the definition of iconic — timeless, poised, and completely tied to the identity of the city.

Where do you go and what do you do to have fun?
I love days where I can properly switch off my phone. Whether I’m catching up with friends and family or exploring the city, finding vintage stores and great street food — that’s when I’m happiest.
What’s the best thing a London cabbie has ever said to you?
“London’s like a relationship — confusing, expensive, but you keep coming back.” Still makes me smile.
Where do you exercise in London?
I train at Wimbledon or the Roehampton training centre. Both feel like home in their own way.
Who do you call when you want to have fun in London?
I call my brother — he always knows where to go and how to enjoy it.
What’s your biggest extravagance?
I wouldn’t say I have many, but food is definitely my indulgence. I try really hard to eat well and look after my body. I’ll try anything if it helps me feel and perform better.
What’s your London secret?
Petersham Nurseries. I love going there for breakfast and then taking a countryside style walk. It feels like a total escape, even though you’re still in London.

What are you up to at the moment for work?
I’m getting ready for Wimbledon physically and mentally, and I’ve also been working on some Wimbledon inspired charms with Amex. It’s a fun creative project that ties into everything I love about this time of year.
What does Wimbledon mean to you?
Wimbledon means everything. It’s where the dream started — as a kid, a player, and a fan. I also love the fashion side of it — the strawberries, the lawns, the style. That’s actually what inspired the Amex Tennis Charm Collection.
Does it mean a lot to be on home turf?
Absolutely. There’s pride, of course, but also comfort — the support, the familiarity, even the little routines. It gives me calm and drive at the same time.

Who’s your hero or professional hero?
My hero will always be my family. My mum and grandpa raised me to handle things with grace, good or bad. Professionally, it was Jessica Ennis growing up. I admired how strong and calm she was.
Trainers. Way too many. They’re everywhere in my house, but each pair has its own little story.
Podcast you are currently obsessed with?
I’m not really into podcasts. I prefer music or just a bit of quiet when I’m on the go.
What’s your favourite work of art or building in London?
Centre Court at Wimbledon. Not just because I play there. Even when it’s empty, you can feel the history and the weight of everything that’s happened on that grass.

What was the last thing you googled?
“Best iced matcha in London.” Priorities.
What’s your favourite London beauty or grooming spot?
I go to Embassy Beauty. It’s one of my favourite ways to switch off and reset.
What apps can you not live without in the city and why?
Waze and Spotify. Waze keeps me moving, and Spotify’s always playing — whether I’m training, walking, or just zoning out.
What’s your London dress code?
My London dress code is smart casual. I love an oversized blazer — it’s my go to. I also enjoy putting on a dress when the moment calls for it. It’s all about balance and feeling like yourself.
