Katherine Reid named director in Oxford office of Grant Thornton

Business and financial adviser Grant Thornton has promoted Katherine Reid to tax director at its Oxford office. She brings over 17 years of experience to the role.

With roots back to 1904, Grant Thornton’s Oxford office is part of the Thames Valley and Southampton offices. Together, that network employs over 280 experts – with previous reports having stated around 100 of those were in Oxford. The firm supplies audit, tax and advisory solutions to business and their management teams across the region.

Katherine Reid first joined Grant Thornton as a graduate in August 2008. Having spent the time since in the Thames Valley practices, she will continue to work with mid-market businesses across the south – particularly the Oxfordshire region’s science, technology and other IP-rich industries.

“This promotion marks an important step in my career at Grant Thornton – from starting out as a graduate to now stepping into the role of director,” said Reid. “The firm’s culture of support and its focus on developing people have been central to my growth. Mid-market businesses often need advice that’s both practical and forward-thinking – tailored to where they are now but also aligned with their future ambitions.”

Her clients often include fast-growing firms that face intricate tax situations and require practical, real-time support. Looking ahead, Reid said that whether her work involved expansion planning, managing tax risk, or getting ready for investment or sale, her aim remains helping those clients to “stay compliant, agile and primed for growth.”

Hazel Platt, head of tax at Grant Thornton UK, added, “Katherine’s promotion reflects both her exceptional technical expertise and her ability to build strong, trusted relationships with clients. Her practical approach, combined with her academic mindset, makes her uniquely positioned to support the complex needs of growing mid-market businesses. This appointment underscores our continued investment in developing senior talent and expanding our tax advisory services across the south.”
