Actors Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor graced the latest edition of SCREEN Live held in New Delhi. In an extensive conversation that not just reflected the lighter tone of their upcoming film Loveyapa, but also ventured into territories that brought out the deep-thinkers in them, Junaid and Khushi spoke about a variety of topics, including nepotism, sharing limelight, and navigating through the waters of incessant criticism.
Khushi opened up about the response to her debut, the Netflix film, The Archies, and minced no words in expressing her opinion about the nepotism debate. In fact, her words urging people coming from privilege to introspect and accept where they come from received a positive response. She also spoke about being the ‘guinea pig’ for the weird culinary choices of her sister Janhvi Kapoor, and how the biggest diva among the both of them is actually their father Boney Kapoor, whose sartorial choices for the shooting of Tu Jhooti Main Makkar is stuff of legend. There were also rather pensive moments where Khushi spoke about how her self-esteem took a hit when she was mocked for her looks. This conversation also ventured into the topic of cosmetic surgery, and Khushi’s frankness on it was refreshing to say the least.

On the other hand, Junaid, who is a rather reticent person, was candid enough to admit that he might not have been his own choice for Loveyapa, and it was at the insistence of the director (Advait Chandan) and producer (Madhu Mantena) that he decided to zero in on this project to make his big screen debut.
The SCREEN Live session will be available for viewing on the YouTube channel of The Indian Express and SCREEN from 8 pm today. The event was presented by Lenskart, with The Lalit as the venue partner, Growfitter as the fitness partner, Coca-Cola India as the beverage partner, Abhibus as the mobility partner, Be Young as the lifestyle partner, and Mirraw as the fashion partner.
Junaid Khan, who is the son of actor Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, made his Bollywood debut with Netflix’s Maharaj, which was backed by Yash Raj Films and directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra. In the film, Junaid played a journalist who exposes the exploitation of women devotees by a godman.
The younger daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and late legendary actor Sridevi, Khushi Kapoor, on the other hand, made her Bollywood debut with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, which also premiered on Netflix. The film marked the debut of several star kids, including Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.
