John Cena Blames WWE Fans For Major Surgery

For the last few years, John Cena has been at the end of some jokes by fans regarding his bald spot, which impacts many men out there. Cena has sported a longer hair look in recent years after rocking a short hair look for a decade.

Following his record-breaking 17th world championship victory at WrestleMania 41, John Cena’s surprising and characteristically candid appearance on the Pat McAfee Show revealed the reason behind his noticeably fuller head of hair: fan “bullying.”

Cena, embracing his heel persona, playfully accused WWE fans of relentlessly mocking his thinning hair to the point where he felt compelled to undergo hair transplant surgery in November of the previous year.

“You chant and you make me feel small and you embarrass me,” the 47-year-old Cena quipped to the the fans (H/T to People.com) “Y’all don’t know what that’s like. That is straight-up bullying. That’s just not cool. I don’t like it. So, thank you for bullying me into getting surgical hair replacement. That’s how far y’all push me.”

Cena elaborated on the constant reminders of his perceived flaw, stating, “I just saw it on so many bald spot signs. And that’s the thing, when you get [surgery], your hair falls out because the new ones have to grow. So the old one falls out,” turning to the virtual crowd with mock exasperation.

“And you guys, by the way, thank you for being so aware of my needs and emotions, because you guys ripped me to shreds for a genetic problem that I can’t control.” He further emphasized the unfairness of the situation, recalling instances during high-pressure moments like the Royal Rumble where fans would focus on his hair.

“This isn’t cool. You guys aren’t cool to me. Why do you think I did it?” he continued. “I’m in the [Royal Rumble] trying to win and [fans ask], ‘How’s the bald spot?’ Like, that’s not fair. I can’t control that.”

Explaining the hair transplant process in a relatable manner, Cena likened it to landscaping. “You have to take the [hair] from the side and plant them in on the top. You take the lawn over here and you put it on the dry spot. It just takes a while for it to come in. It’s coming in, man. It’s coming. Hopefully, in a couple of months, it looks better.” The “Ricky Stanicky” star expressed his hope for a future where he can sport a more voluminous hairstyle. “I got a problem. I try to fix it. That’s what I’m doing,” he stated.

This personal revelation came on the heels of Cena’s dramatic WrestleMania 41 victory over Cody Rhodes, where he captured his historic 17th world championship, a win that was notably aided by interference from rapper Travis Scott, further solidifying Cena’s heel turn.
