Jeremy Clarkson said he had “less than a decade” before he feared he didn’t “have long” in comments that have resurfaced following his heart surgery last year
Jeremy Clarkson, the star of Clarkson’s Farm, hinted at his own mortality just months before undergoing heart surgery towards the end of last year.
The 64 year old revealed in October that he had a stent fitted in his heart following a “sudden deterioration” in his health, which included symptoms like chest tightness.
Since then, he has made some lifestyle changes. In an interview with The Guardian in April last year, Jeremy expressed a growing concern about his mortality, suggesting he had less than a decade left.
He was quoted saying: “I don’t have long. I’ve probably only got what, 70,000 hours left, maybe?” This comment resurfaced after his recent health scare.

When asked if anything in his life had hurt him, Jeremy responded that there were “countless things”, but people could choose to either “wallow” or “stiffen” their upper lip and “get on with it”. He preferred the latter approach.
This “park that and move on” attitude seems to be part of his increasing focus on his own mortality. His comments came about six months before he announced he had undergone heart surgery, reports the Mirror.
In October, he suggested that a doctor had told him he might have been just days away from death.
Jeremy opened up about his surgery in a Sunday Times column, detailing his recent health scare that began with difficulty using stairs on holiday abroad and a “sudden deterioration” upon returning home.
He recalls feeling “clammy,” experiencing chest “tightness” and “pins and needles” in his left arm.
Fearing a heart attack, he sought medical help and was taken to the hospital, where they excluded that diagnosis after tests. Jeremy divulged that he underwent an “extremely urgent” operation when it was discovered one of his arteries was completely blocked, while another was on its way.
A stent was subsequently placed. He has since confirmed he’s “fine” and mentioned earlier this year that he’s been seeing a dietician post-health scare.
