The woman who sued Jay-Z alleging he raped her when she was 13 years old has been heard on tape admitting that the assault did not occur and that her lawyer pushed her to sue, according to a report by ABC News.
In the audio clip, which was provided to ABC, the woman who goes by Jane Doe in the suit affirmed to investigators hired by the rap mogul born Shawn Carter that Jay-Z “was just there, but he didn’t have anything to do with any sexual acts towards [her].”
She also said her attorney, Tony Buzbee, was “the one that kind of pushed me towards going forward with [suing] him, with Jay-Z,” ABC News reports. That suit has since been dismissed.
Jay-Z was first named as a defendant in the woman’s case against Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has been accused of a plethora of sexual assaults and other crimes to which he has pleaded not guilty and denied guilt.
Buzbee, who represents multiple people suing Diddy, denied Doe’s claims to ABC.
“As far as the suggestion that I pushed Jane Doe to bring a case against Jay Z – That is a blatant lie that is directly contrary to all the documentary evidence,” Buzbee said.
Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro, however, said “the tape speaks for itself.”
“She says in no uncertain terms Mr. Carter did not do this. It’s effectively a lie and the only reason Mr. Carter is even involved in this is because she was pushed to involve him,” Spiro told ABC News.
