Japanese Minimalism Portland Homes : mori house

The team at SHED Architecture & Design has created the Mori House nestled in the calm forests of Portland, Oregon. The home blends elements of mid-century modern architecture with modern minimalism aesthetics. The Mori House was originally designed by Saul Zaik in 1963 and the SHED team has reimagined the space to integrate function and aesthetics for the new owners: a young family.

The Mori House is set on a sloped and wooded base and the home has a bold yet calm statement. It features a detached studio and garage with a teahouse pavilion that can be accessed by the elevated decks. These components are carefully gramed by the tall towering trees, which simultaneously form a peaceful retreat to connect to nature around it.
